Far Cry Primal

Post by Odahi »

Is anyone else playing it? You get to be Neolithic. Now, I LOVE .50 cal silenced sniper rifles in Far Cry, but this one is getting me hooked. The interface and much of the crafting is familiar, but the differences are fascinating to me. I didn't know if I could get into a "shooter" without firearms, but so far I'm having a great time. I haven't gone very far yet, but I have managed to get killed by a bear. Twice.

I'll wait for it to come down in price. Far Cry 2 was busywork, Far Cry 3 made me want to punch the lead writer in the face, and Blood Dragon was an acceptable bargain bin parody.

And yet...

First-person shooters sans shooting are an interesting thing. I first started enjoying them while playing the Dead Island games, but the folks who put out the Far Cry series do a better job on building the gameworld. Ever since Far Cry 3, sometimes I just have to pause while playing and enjoy how beautiful the scenery is.
Wondering if at any point you can get a stone knife and do the usual machete/kukri attacks like in previous installments.

It looks cool. I may check it out once the hype dies and it gets cheaper. I've only just recently gotten in on Skyrim, so that should tell you something...

If you guys like Far Cry, you should check out Just Cause 3, it is damn good IMO.

+1 on Just Cause 3. Anyone who enjoys Far Cry will enjoy this as well. The grappling hook is suck a game-changer, makes the whole thing fun as hell, like Spider Man with machine guns. Big beautiful explosions the like I haven't seen since Mercenaries 2 (though the "Intro to Flamethrowers" level on Far Cry 3 comes close).

I am liking what I have seen about the DLC expansion... Waiting on a decent sale for it.

If you like satisfying explosions/destruction, check out Red Faction Guerrilla, it is a fun time... And it is dirt cheap.
