Doc, if that level of stupidity bothered you, I wouldn't bother with the books.
The author has clearly never fired a handgun, and I doubt he ever saw one, but he fills his books full of random, fictional aspects of weapons you have fired.

I saw the movie a couple of days ago. It was OK I suppose. One thing that really struck me was that Cruise seemed to be trying to emulate Clint Eastwood's way of delivering dialogue from movies such as Dirty Harry.
It sounds great when Clint does it, but I haven't heard anyone else carry it off so far...
