Re-read Freehold recently. Read Ghost and was a bit disappointed in it. Didn't care at all about the main character, hated him for his problems, and some of the coincidences were just too damn convenient to buy into. Re-trading The Weapon at the moment. Nice cozy read about sabotage on a planetary scale.

What I regret reading- or at least paying for - is "Raylan" by Elmore Leonard. Leonard's books are usually good, campy books, but at least well-written, with entertaining dialogue. "Raylan" is poorly done, especially compared to Leonard's usual level.

Re: Whatcha reading redux.
I usually have at least two or three books going at one time. Currently I'm reading Benjamin Franklin's autobiography, "The Final Mission" (WWII), and just finished "Neverwhere" by Neil Gaimen.
My daughter got me addicted to Neil Gaimen. He's one of those writers whose style captivates such that I swear I would read his grocery list. Several of his books have been made into movies: "Coraline", "Stardust", "MirrorMask."

Just finished reading "A Way through the Wilderness" William Davis. It's a history of the Natchez Trace, and the surrounding areas, from initial settlement to the Trail of Tears. Actually pretty good. It's nice to learn something new about the area where you've lived most of your life.

Agreed! It's one of the reasons I like history so much, and there are LOTS of places with interesting history here in the USA!First Shirt wrote:It's nice to learn something new about the area where you've lived most of your life.
POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON
A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.
I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

Reread Tuloriad and Thud!. (Kratman and Pratchett, respectively.)
Just ordered a copy of Children No More from Amazon. I've already read it, but I want my own copy.
Had an Amazon gift card to use up. Also ordered Deftones and Thompson Twins CD's, which may be the first time that's ever been done at the same time.
