Delorean DMC-12 To Start New Production in 2017

$100k... For perspective, you can buy an almost mint one with all original parts and low mileage for about a quarter of that price... There are six on eBay right now, the highest one is a buy it now price of $35k, three of the listings have less than 10,000 miles on them.

And if they are using NOS parts like they say (which I understand they have literally thousands of the body panels sitting around in warehouses), the outside of the vehicle will be virtually identical to the existing ones.

The engine in the DMC-12 is a Peugeot-Renault-Volvo (PRV) 2.85 litre V6, the same engine that was used in about 2 dozen models throughout the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s... Production numbers for that were just shy of 1 million units. Which means that there are PLENTY of parts out there for replacements to the original and most likely there are quite a few sitting around that were never installed in a car.

So for $100k, you get a modern engine with, presumably, updated fuel standards, electronics and reliability... In a 35 year old car...

Oh and since the body panels are all stainless steel, the 30 year old one is going to look identical to the brand new one so long as there has been no damage to it.

Provided that the car is in good shape, I would bet that you could pick up any of the ones listed on eBay right now and spend less than $10k making it damn near pristine... For $50k or so total, you can probably get it to look identical to one of the movie cars too.

But no word on availability or price for the flux capacitor option, nor the Mr. Fusion power supply upgrade. :(

saw a car repair show (Car Fix?) where they had a DeLorean with a Chevy LS-V8 swap. It made a difference!

Here's one in Ohio.

Well that sounds like a total waste of money for nostalgia purposes. Did they ever think there was a REASON the cars didn't sell well?

Yes. It's obviously because they didn't charge $100k for them.

Because DeLorean was a better drug dealer than car maker?

Wow, a 350 hp v6... that's almost 70 hp more than a new camry!

Why its 30 grand more than a new hell cat challenger, for half the hp!
And wrapped in dated 800 styling to boot!
