For the uses you stated, I can see it, but as a replacement for a laptop for school? What about storage, word processing, etc? Yeah, I'm guessing you can buy externals, but in that case, why not just a laptop?
There must be an end to this intimidation by those who come to this great country, but reject its culture.

Keep in mind that Darlin' Daughter is in High School. YMMV and hers might as well when she hits college.

That being said, the Galaxy Tab 10 we got her has an adequate word processor, calendar, contacts list etc. More than enough to take notes and write up first drafts for refinement at home.

She has 16GB of internal storage, with the ability to add up to 32GB using Micro SD cards, and I found a cheap dongle that lets her connect to and read USB flash drives.

If the supplied apps aren't adequate, there are lots of apps online to download (many of them free) until you find one that fits your needs.

She can copy documents back and forth from her desktop at home and e-mail documents to herself for printing, etc.

Just finished her first week back at school. So far so good.
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

Someone brought up the Kindle Fire HD. Thoughts?
I recently bought an HD Fire for $159 (plus $15 to disable all the stupid ads). Love it.

Woot has 8GB Nook HD 7" tablets (reconditioned) for $89.99 + S&H for Monday. Just an FYI; I have no experience with these units.
