Let me be the first you old coot. Someone else has to do it for you.

Thanks guys.

Got a wonderful birthday present Sunday. On our way home from a great weekend camping, towing my travel trailer, the truck engine blew up. So far we know that it will cost about $7000 to rebuild it, with a 3 year, 100,000 mile warranty. And that "something" in the engine came apart.

10 year old, GMC 3500HD, 4wd,SLE package, gas 6.0l, great shape, 144,000 miles on it. Rebuild with warranty yes. Replace, same thing, newer would start at about $35,000 for a basic package and top out somewhere north of $70,000.

Happy birthday! Sorry about the truck but applaud the logic of getting it repaired!
I'm not old--It's too early to be this late.

Happy Birthday!
There must be an end to this intimidation by those who come to this great country, but reject its culture.

When the transmission crapped out in Mrs. NPR's Commander this winter some people asked me if the vehicle was worth the 4 grand to repair it. My standard answer was that it wasn't worth anything with a busted transmission.
