Winter Range

Post by Rumpshot »

Not to make anyone jealous or anything, but I spent Tuesday afternoon at Winter Range.

They are in town (Phoenix) for a week. Then the NMLRA takes over Ben Avery Shooting Facility for another week. We have our Western National Shoot.

Winter Range is slowly loosing vendors over the years. They, like us, have had some weather issues. Ya pays your money and takes your chances. Phoenix is really nice, most of the time, this time of year. BUT sometimes it rains and sometimes the wind blows. We had 75-100 mph straight line winds several years ago. Blew down tents, twisted travel trailers on their jacks, turned ramadas inside out, made one hell of a mess. The cowboys had their wind a year or two later. It took commercial, well staked and tied down, tents and rolled them over, merchandise and all.

Will be moving into Ben Avery tomorrow for a little over a week. Dr's appt all day tomorrow and a business meeting at Ben Avery on Saturday. Then Sunday start setting up Trader's Row. Will get a chance to watch the cowboys a little tomorrow and Saturday, then muzzle loaders for a week. Anyone in the area, stop by and check things out. The Winter Range gets $5 for parking and give you a ride to the action. The Western National Shoot, parking is free and you drive to where you want to go. The cowboys probably generate more revenue for the range, but we take over more ranges.
