Family frustrations

Post by Mike OTDP »

Need to vent here....

What is it with young women these days? Have they no clue about where babies come from? No idea of contraception?

I've got three nieces. Niece #1 is Miss Clueless - two kids, neither sperm donor is in the picture. Now Niece #2 turns up pregnant. We know who the father is on this one...hopefully they'll get married. She just graduated from college (B.S. in Math), so she's not devoid of mental capacity. Niece #3 is a senior in high school...we'll see how she turns out.

But it's frustrating. My parents would be heartbroken.

We now live In a consequence free society where young women no longer have their behavior restrained by male relatives or older women. Also, Uncle Sugar is ready with financial support, so you don't even need a man. You can thank 50 years of feminism.
There must be an end to this intimidation by those who come to this great country, but reject its culture.

Its basically a case of perverse incentives, especially in the case of minority females. The amount of govt aid they are entitled to (ebt, section 8, etc), has been estimated to equal a 70k/yr job. Is it any wonder why they actively look to get knocked up? And getting married is about the last thing they want to do, as it negatively affects benifits.
HTRN, I would tell you that you are an evil fucker, but you probably get that a lot ~ Netpackrat

Gentlemen! He didn't say anything that implied any of that. Let's stick with thoughtless.

But I do agree that our society actively discourages thinking about consequences in any sphere of life.

Mike, maybe you can guide them with general conversations about consequences.
Note to self: start reading sig lines. They're actually quite amusing. :D

Some of this is the sexual morality of kids who learned about sexuality from hard core porn is really bizarre.

And part of it is that, while the pro-life message is working, DC has actively attacked most of the things which supported adoption.

Tell me about it. What bugs me is that this sort of thing tends to be inheritable. What bugs me more is that decent men have such a hard time these days.

The other vexation is that I spent $40K helping Niece #2 go through college. I'm tapped out...or, rather, now need to focus on Niece #3.

He did ask as a general question what was up with young women these days. My answer addressed that.

Not your circus not your monkeys. A young woman with a math degree should be able to get a good job.

The current social and legal climate sucks for men, young or otherwise. If you choose to get married these days, she had better be a saint because all the laws and the courts are stacked against you.
