And Then There Were Five

Post by Darrell »

My oldest brother passed away yesterday morning. He supposedly fell out of bed and hit his head, suffering trauma. He never regained consciousness, was on life support in ICU for several days before they pulled the plug. He was 79, IIRC. There are five of us left now, two older brothers, two older sisters, and myself. I'm sad about it, but frankly, not overcome with grief. We were not close, I hadn't seen him in over 20 years. He was the black sheep of the family, a beatnik in the late '50s/early '60s, then a hippie in the '60s/early '70s. He was an asshole, and a drug addict. He drove a cab in Chicago for many years. I could tell stories, but won't, except for this--he moved here in the late '80s, then left town for the big city again. He broke into my house and ransacked it the day he left. He tended to rub everybody the wrong way. May he RIP.

Hope he finds the peace that he couldn't find here.

I've got a brother like that, and while I'm sorry for your loss, I'm glad you don't have to deal with that anymore.

Prayers sent, for the family.

with or without his asshole tendencies. I am sorry for your loss.

It seems like he lost out years ago.

My condolences. Even if he wasn't the brother you deserved, he was still your brother.
