I may be buying a house!
Pretty sure this means that the 6th seal in Revelations has been cracked open. The place next door to a friend of mine on the North Shore is coming available, and the seller is willing to do a self-financing deal. Mortgage payment will be in the same neighborhood as my current rent, and I can raid my 401k (I'm going to work until I drop dead at my workstation, so it's less a retirement fund, and more a hedge against unemployment) for the down payment. Small 2 bed/1 bath on one acre, but it'll still beat the hell out of being in an apartment.

Don't know yet. Too much overhead cover. Lots of trees and bamboo between my friend's yard and the house. May have to start off using the guest bedroom. I'll know better once I get the chance to see the place.Netpackrat wrote:Congrats. How big is the workshop?
Oh, and this is still south Louisiana, where the water table is like 2-3 angstroms below the surface. The only bunkers around here are on the golf course...

Sounds like some prime antenna support material possibilities thereCybrludite wrote: Lots of trees and bamboo between my friend's yard and the house.

Where on the Northshore if I may ask? Something in Madisonville or Covington, near the river, would be ideal to me. The family is still in Hammond, but if they lived somewhere else, I'd never go back to Hammond again.

West side of Covington, on W. 21st Ave. It's what Boston St. turns into when you get past Tyler.Steamforger wrote:Where on the Northshore if I may ask? Yup, and it not being a rental means I can graduate from HTs to a base station. It'll be worth it to upgrade my license.randy wrote:Sounds like some prime antenna support material possibilities thereCybrludite wrote: Lots of trees and bamboo between my friend's yard and the house.

LOL, one of my fishing buddies lives around there. If you see a red Wrangler with some kayaks on top rolling around, that's him.

It's not in a HOA, is it?
