Can it cruise on a single engine? Would it extend the range at all?

Just a WAG but I'm pretty sure the performance charts would show better range going faster on two engines than dragging along on only one.

So is this going to be our first GCAF (Gun Counter Air Force) purchase? I'll go start a crowdfunding campaign...if we sell seats on pirate strafing missions it might work. The SS Guncounter will need a flat top deck however.

Showing up at a fly-in in this would get you some serious "respect". You'd get to park up front, instead of in the "back 40" with the 172s/182s, Cherokees, Bonanzas, etc.

Performance(from Wikipedia)
Maximum speed: 200 mph (322 km/h)
Range: 1,325 mi (2,132 km) combat
Service ceiling: 18,000 ft (5,490 m)
Rate of climb: 1,180 ft/min (6 m/s)

For a "light" twin that is not a bad range. Just putting along I'd guess you could go a lot farther. When I was a youth my finger nails started turning blue over 8,000 feet.

One of my brother's "roommates" in Hanoi was shot down in an O-2. Recall him saying reality of single engine performance was a more controlled glide.. After release he went to fly the F-4, F-16, F-15, did Test Pilot School and time at Edwards. After EAOS he got a job flying for a "commuter" airline out of Las Vegas.

*commuter airline = F-117 flight test. He developed procedures and trained the first batch of active duty into the airframe.

A good friend owns a P337--swears by it .It was built in France . Most folk don't know that Cessna had some built there. I used to see it parked at a dirt strip in Baja for years as I flew over. Even with CL thrust you don't want to fly too long on one engine, cause that baby can be heavy (over 4000 Lbs) for 210 HP.

And the remaining engine will always get you there.
