Business Names

Post by 308Mike »

Folks, my wife is starting her HIPAA/HITECH compliance consulting business but we're having some difficulty settling on a business name. She wants me to run some business names by you to get your reaction to various names or perhaps even suggesting new ones.

Some name options:

Ally HIPAA-Tech
HIPAA-Tech Ally
Highpoint HIPAA
Highrise HIPAA
HIPAA Ally

Thoughts and/or ideas welcome.

Of the posted suggestions, HIPAA Ally sounds best to me. You're their ally, not friend or servant, in meeting their compliance goals. And putting HIPAA first in the name would probably make you come out higher in searches.

Have you Googled any of those names to see if something similar is already in use?

What if your business name contains the same first letters as the legislation?

You don't want to be *allied* with HIPAA, it is not anyone's friend. You're looking to deal with issues relating to medical records, billing and regulatory compliance, no?

I only did it because someone said not to do something similar.

Correct. Greg, good points, and Chris, we weren't aware about that info regarding the use of the name of legislation in a company name. They are taxpayer employees, and their work is owned by the American people, so we figured it shouldn't be a problem. We're the company's ally in dealing with compliance issues regarding HIPAA and HITECH.
