Having been south of the border and gotten Montezuma's Revenge, they might be leery of real Mexican food - especially if any of the ingredients have been exposed to Mexican water. So, instead, they prefer American tacos. You get further from the border, there's less chance of anything being exposed to untreated water and less chance of getting the squirts.

Common sense is not a job skill.
Many organizations find it unsettling, undesirable, and manifestly insubordinate.

I agree and have experienced this, but I'm curious as to your take. Elaborate, please?

Well we *were* going to Dickey's BBQ, but arrived just after 9 PM when they closed. We were tired, hungry, and Taco Bell was next door. And it was cheap.

Because anyone who's NOT from Texas, New Mexico, or Arizona think ALL other Mexican food is as dangerous as that south of the border. I can name 8 or 9 different Mexican restaurants in El Paso that have a variety of regional Mexican food or GOOD Tex-Mex.

Rod, you will need to name a couple close to the airport --cause the last time we were there a couple years ago, we drove West on Montana till close to Trowbridge and our favrorite place was gone , so we then drove East until we came to this nice looking place with plenty of cars-- food was only fair . Since the Boss & I both "grew up along the Southern Arizona border, we know what good Mexican food is ---and she can cook most of it ! We will be going thru El Paso next winter.

My wife LOVES their Chicken Cantina Bowl, minus the Romaine Lettuce and the guac on the side, along with extra Cilantro Sauce (you know I've ordered that a number of times to have it memorized). Some times, I feel like I'm making her order sound like the bit from Harry Met Sally (YouTube). That's why some times in the past, I've asked her to write it down so I could simply pass her order to the order-taker (with apologies). But this order is farily simple, so it's easy to memorize. At times, she reminds me of our cats - except she even a more finicky eater (if that's possible). Even so, I wouldn't trade her for ANYTHING (and she's a damned good cook too)!!!!

When you have no money, their food can fill your belly cheaply (it's better than making tomato soup from ketchup packets and hot water). I usually get several of their crispy tacos so I can put a few in the fridge for later when I get hungry again. Although we like their soft tacos more, they don't keep in the fridge as long. I have to admit I DO like their steak tacos (and their 7-layer burrito is a decent meal, tasty, and fairly inexpensive).

And their tacos (and even their $.99 tostadas are edible, especially with some Tapatio - which tastes better than their own sauces) are decent when you just want something to eat and aren't being picky. :D :D

YMMV

Realistically any fast food chain or franchise, should have multiple numbers for such things... I have worked for TB's parent company and if that were to have happened, we would have notified the GM and/or the district manager on duty and let them handle it.

I got in trouble once for calling 911 when we smelled a chemical leak of some sort... Turned out it was a busted freon line in a cooler/freezer and it was a good thing I did. But they were pissed that I shut the place down for 45 minutes.

The answer to that is to tell them you would be happy to let them compare 45 minutes of sales receipts at peak hours for the first hour of court time for the personal injury/negligence lawsuit, and tell them you'll be happy to match numbers if losers pays winner the difference in cash on the spot.

They won't love you for that, but they usually have the sense to shut the hell up.

We had three levels of security tell us at the hospital that we couldn't possibly be smelling natural gas at one of the exits, because "we don't use gas in the hospital."
'Cuz it sez so right there in their handy manual.

Then I asked the senior genius exactly WTF they thought the midnight cook was using to grill their hamburgers every night since 1929, and how much would it cost them to make a phone call, versus how much it would cost them if the building had an explosion.
Whereupon they STFU and called the gas company "just in case".
Who found the leak, said "Thank you for calling us", and fixed the leak before some a-hole having a nicotine fit blew up the ER.
This is why security guards get minimum wage, as a rule, and why you get what you pay for:
When you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

Fuckwittery knows no bounds, but it can be fixed it if you use a big enough hammer.

Odds are good your back-up generators are gas as well. (The size generator we need is similar to what a small hospital usually has a pair of, or so.)
