The scary Black Bag... used for good.

Post by BobbyK »

Today I got to reach into my scary black bag of computer tricks for good, rather than evil.

Background:

Teacher takes school board issued laptop home.
Machine gets infected with Malware, downloads porn.
Teacher notices, tries to fix it, fails, and reports it to school IT Manager.
School investigates, fires him. This is January.
Teacher's ex-wife successfully petitions court to yank custody of Teacher's daughter.
Union hires.... me. In April/May.

Last week, the administrative law judge ordered that he be reinstated, with back pay and back benefits.

Today, after I testified about my findings at a hearing, the family law judge ordered that he get his daughter back.

This makes for a happy Bobby.

Well done. He should sue for punitive damages too. Too bad the judge didn't award him interest.
There must be an end to this intimidation by those who come to this great country, but reject its culture.

I understand if confidentiality is an issue, but IMHO, computers don't randomly "get infected" with porn and malware, any more than people catch VD from dirty toilet seats.

So understandably he doesn't own that problem, but clearly someone else does...?

You seem to assume that "needed killin'" and "good" are mutually exclusive terms.
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

Porn, at least on sites that don't end in .Ru, are generally fairly safe. It's all the damn websites running third party ads using services like Adsense, and Project Wonderful that cause the problems - The last time I got hit good, was from Fanfiction.net, from one of their ads..
HTRN, I would tell you that you are an evil fucker, but you probably get that a lot ~ Netpackrat
