R.F.I Ishapore

The place for beginners, or anyone else, to talk about gun, gear, and shooting topics with a minimum of jargon and/or geekery. The only stupid question is the one you don't ask that blows up in your face later.

R.F.I Ishapore

Post by Dazen »

I bought this rifle about 10 to 15 years ago not knowing much about it. Over the years i have learned some what from random google searches. Now that I'm selling it I find myself wondering how should i label it when i post it. Would it be suffice to say Ishapore Jungle Carbine?

Not an expert, but:

I wouldn't call it a jungle carbine.

It's been chopped with a jungle carbine flashhider added.

Magazine appears to be non standard. (maybe not for Ishapore?)

Appears to have Century marks on it, too.

Maybe a little more information here.

Looks like an Ishy 2A made as a carbine. The straight sides of the magazine are a dead giveaway that it's not an Ishy No.1 Mk.III in good old .303 that was cut down to look like a No.5.

It's in .308 right? Just call it a cut down 2A "Jungle Carbine" in .308. So long as you make it clear it has been modified you should be ok.

Yep it's 7.62 NATO. I believe I'll word it just like that thanks.

Right then, call it what it is: A scout rifle in the finest tradition. large mag, .308, shorter bar and cut down stock. Perfect. Now all one needs is a small bit of glass on top and Bob's you uncle.
