As of now I see HXP for $0.80/round, and S&B for $0.85/round on CMP's site.

I think all the surplus is dried up. Makes sense, no military has used .30-06 in a long time.

I think the silver solder holding the carbide tip failed. Looks like the bit got really hot; I'm guessing the hammerdrill broke the carbide away from the bit and then the steel shank tried it's damndest to drill thru carbide, which won't happen. Unless you're sure you dug the carbide out of the hol...

I'm addicted to the renishaws we use in the horizontals. Haven't broke those yet, you really need to push one to break it.
