New German frigate is in bad shape

Article . From the article, it sounds like Germany's procurement programs are in worse shape than our own. Kind of refreshing, but being 2nd in a race to the bottom is never a good thing. We're at least able to deliver, even if the program is severely flawed (LCS anyone?) Some high points from the ...

There was an article on reddit this morning about a woman who was given an OB/GYN exam in a hallway full of other people also waiting for medical care. Some of those other waiting folks are dying in those hallways apparently. They also mentioned using ambulances as treatment rooms.

There's a weird culture of 20+ hour workdays, Five and Dimes schedules, increased ops tempo and tasking, and a deep, blatant double standard between enlisted and officer leadership vs crew. Topping this off is a fervent belief that if leadership had to suffer when they were junior enlisted, then eve...

It got weird on the Homemade Submarine I'd guess the skipper was pleased with his reporter and took her out for a little boat ride. I suspect he got a "lil' bit rapey" out there and may have done something he couldn't come back from. The sub foundered and only he was rescued, whereupon he...

Sullivan says the toxic cloud had injured some first responders as several deputies and at least one firefighter were treated at the scene.

I'd rather they got away with the car, TBH, then have these people injured by Chlorine. Also, "Blue Canaries". What was that Firefighter thinking???

Stow the tin foil talk for now. Way too early for that. Straits of Malacca. Nuff said. If you've passed through there, even once, that's enough to sober a rush to judgement and speculation. Busiest sealane in the world. Words just don't do the visuals justice. I'm way more what's happening that's c...

Its not like you're supposed to be able to sneak up on a Navy Warship. There are overlapping levels of protection that are supposed to make this very difficult. The last line in these defenses are the watchstanders. There is supposed to be, at a minimum, a port and starboard bridgewing and an aft lo...

I simply cannot even watch the news anymore. I'm maybe checking in with FB once in the evenings, though now seems as good a time as any to just do away with it. The .50 cal myth reared it's ugly head again today (conversation at work). No prohibition exists in the Geneva Conventions, any other law of war treaty, nor in any other part of the law of war on the use of weapons such as the 23mm ZU-23 or the .50 caliber machinegun as antipersonnel weapons.....Cur...

The MP-5 is a 51 year old design. It's sexy enough, but it doesn't have the lock on the SMG world like it used to. It's also a bit of a bitch to break down and clean and I'm told from people who carried them in shooty places that you have to baby the magwells lest they get dented at the worst possib...

I've had 2. One was a S&W Chief's Special that had been used in the heat of the moment by the previous owner (NOPD). He just wanted to be rid of the 36 for some reason. I got it for $150 and eventually used it as a trade in on something else. It shot well, but it really just wasn't my thing. The...

LEO trade in Sig P226 .40 S&W. I had read hit or miss reviews on Reddit about the condition of these so I was worried a bit. The lower priced versions looked pretty beat up. I paid extra for the select grade and threw another $10 for hand picked (best of 5). Looks like it paid off. The good: Con...

If college women are pitching softballs at the 65-72mph range and college men are pitching baseballs at 80-95mph (fastball) and between 55-85mph for all others, is there a reason women haven't moved to the baseball? Is there a benefit to women sticking with the underhanded, fast-pitched, larger ball...

I think I did well this year, hitting my limit early on. I'd been wanting a RCBS Chargemaster for a while, and still do, though paying $300 for something I can do for $0.00, just a little slower, is a tough pill to swallow. Shopping around caused some "problems." I did get in on the Midway...

To me, that ring is similar to one created when you full length size a piece of brass. I'd question if it really was "once-fired." As long as there aren't excessive dents or puckers or cracks, I'd say keep loading them. I have 1k "dented" and unfired 5.56 that I'm wondering what ...

Some reviews

If you don't need the slide ever, it probably isn't a bad plan to go the Polymer80 route. If you did go with a gently used Glock, you'd at least have a whole and functional pistol aside from the Mech Tech Carbine.
