Re: Navy files negligent homicide charges against former Fitzgerald, McCain commanders

I can predict that a big part of their defenses will be that Big Navy (a) failed to provide adequate manning for their crews, leading to excess crew fatigue and (b) inadequate time to train the undermanned crew. Could be, but it would be sticking their heads in a noose. The CO, XO and Senior Watch ...

Why not go down to 32 Cal / 8mm (323) and then you could use rifle bullets as an option. An 8mm 125 grain hollow point would be quite effective I would think.

I will not fault them for buying local for weapons- there is a lot of very good reasons to do that, which is why we do it too. The biggest problem they have with it is the same one we have with the LCS platform; attempting to trade crew size for automation. It just does not work or something of this...

In simple words, a work uniform technically exists to be worn to perform work. However there exists those among us who wish those who work to look sharp at all times to bring pride to the organisation, at least in their minds. The Army had a word for this. The word was Strac (sp). As a former avion...

There's a weird culture of 20+ hour workdays, Five and Dimes schedules, increased ops tempo and tasking, and a deep, blatant double standard between enlisted and officer leadership vs crew. Re: Does not follow...

Well they took our offer, should be in the new place by Christmas. The new place is not the pile of garbage this house was when we moved in. Actually it has been well maintained for the most part. Still, even though I like the new place and I think it is going to be a better overall situation- it wa...

Satanism, at least the church founded by Anton Levay isn't really about Satan, so much as antireligionism with a healthy dose of Nietzsche thrown in.

They are probably lying about that.

Re: Does not follow...

So the house is sold and we close in about 4 week. Have not found a place yet but looked at one today which is pretty good, nice house and enough land to bow hunt. Much closer for the daughter's school and wife's job and about the same for mine. I hope this works out because I don't want to do a dou...

Re: "Wedge Issues"

Gillespie was not the real deal so that is a confounding factor (Establishment Repub in MAGA clothing). Not sure what to make of this. Perhaps of greater significance is the felon vote that's now made it's entrance into the VA electoral calculus. To put it another way: Gillespie ran a JEB! campaign...

Officials described the shooter’s weapon as a Ruger AR-556, an assault-style rifle similar to those used by the military. CNN, citing a law enforcement individual, reported that Kelley purchased the weapon in April 2016 from an Academy Sports & Outdoors store in San Antonio. According to WAPO S...

Re: Help diagnosing failure to fire?

I bought a Bear Creek Arsenal 7.62x39 upper to shoot for grins. Seller said he'd never had a problem. But everyone says that. Took it out to shoot, and in a box of 20, I think I had 7 rounds fire. The rest... no joy. This was with 2 different lowers. Ammo was Golden Tiger, which I'd read good thing...

I was playing B-ball at church last night and discussed this with one of the pastors. He said that they will probably organize so that at least one or two of the ushers are packing, but they have not worked out the details yet.

I think I figured it out at least in this case. The deer was on the extreme right of where I have a view from my blind, tried lining up to the same sight picture and the right arm of my cross bow was pressed up almost touching the wall of the blind while drawn, so when I released it, the bow (and th...

Arrows at dusk

So I missed a deer today with my crossbow. Kind of a bummer, but it has me thinking. In the last three years I have taken a couple deer with my bow and missed now three (including one miss with my compound bow). Is that a typical average or do I just suck, or take shots I shouldn't or what?) In my e...

National Review true to form -- reflexively negative on Trump. First off, whether they are for or against Trump (the answer being both, depending on the issue and which writer) - the important question is what part of what he is saying is wrong? Since you said nothing substantive, I will assume not...

Trump really does need to learn when to STFU. Nah, Trumps uses this stuff to shine a light on the madness about us. So what's she's basically saying is that behaving according to 'bourgeois values' - i.e. get at education (at least finish high school), get a job before getting married, get married before having kids, go to work everyday and work hard - keeps white people (and Asians, but they tend to be ignored)...

Apparently, the CA governor signed a bill to prohibit private businesses from asking potential hires whether they have a criminal record - Ban the box .
