Re: Lever-action for home defense

Looking at the charts here and here , it appears that .38 from a 16" barrel is on the order of .357 from a 3" barrel, so you're looking at a decent enough bump in velocity to make the extra rounds worth it over .357. You're at least as good as a short-barrelled .357 bedside gun, with the a...

Random additional thoughts: Totally speculation, but if the commanders in question were incapable of properly standing watch themselves due to inadequate training, would it not stand to reason that they wouldn't be able to properly train their watch teams to do so? Would this be a valid defense? I r...

Re: Navy files negligent homicide charges against former Fitzgerald, McCain commanders

At least in the Army, one has to opt-in to meet a Command Selection Board. Thus, this group is self-selected, from a group of people who are already retirement eligible, i.e. they've made O-5 and are guaranteed to hit 20 (assuming they don't get court-martialed). Thus, those who would be most likely...

Re: Full faith and Credit - reciprocity

Bullshit! Driver's tests aren't standardized, state EMT tests aren't standardized, marriage license requirements aren't standardized. Why should the lack of standardization on CCW permits matter? EMT certification is not standardized. *SOME* states have straightforward reciprocity, but my NYS card ...

But I reminded my self that safety is not the goal of this or any other legislation by statist scum. It's about control of the population. An intermediate step ...

My 1911 has a childproofing device... It's called a recoil spring assembly. Stored condition 3, there is no way a 5-y/o can chamber a round. At least not any 5-y/o I've ever met. My WIFE can barely get the slide cycled... I'm not concerned about any kid doing it. Now it's still put away out of reach...

Mr Carrier, my sophomore Civics teacher in the suburbs of Louisville, KY, would not be able to make it today. Tacoma. You'll have to look around pretty hard to find a 4x4 with decent (under 150k) mileage for under $10k, as lots of them are of the 'pre-runner' 2wd variety. If you can get one with a locker in the diff, the pre-runner will deal with fire roads easily, and cost a LOT less than a 4x4. But at or ...

As long as the floor joists aren't failing, you don't have too many. If the foundation is settling unevenly, you might want to rethink that, though. If you have this problem due to firearms, you have a bigger issue: This status means you've exceeded your capacity to feed said firearms, since floor ...
