David Coe's "Spell Blind". Instant first impression on seeing it was, "oh, somebody wants to cash in on The Dresden Files."...saw it was Baen and figured maybe worth a read. Ugh. Main character is "Justis Fearsson" for crying out loud. Yes, ripoff of Dresden Files. But...

If we get to the point where reloading .22LR is necessary, I believe that I'll be re-imagining my powderpuff loads for the .30-30. I have several CB loads in that variety that are very pleasing. Certainly capable of small game and varmints. Think a 115 grain bullet at 800 fps. Quiet, deadly, and a ...

I went to the range with the Mutant again, and I'm still really happy with it. If the barrel is original, it may be one of the shotguns that were used to teach aerial gunnery during WW2. This would explain the long barrel.

For additional training, are there any USPSA or IDPA clubs near where you live? Competition can be some of the best training you can get. Match fees are usually pretty reasonable, and it's loads of fun.

I've found, especially with rifle primers, that if I seat the primer (whether on the press, or on the Lee hand primer), back off very slightly on the lever, rotate the case 180 degrees, and seat it again, that I get more consistent primer seating. Don't get crazy with it, just enough to feel if the...
